There is no charge for the disposal of your own household waste or recyclables.

However, not all waste that arises in your home is considered household waste.

Waste arising from the construction, improvement, repair and alteration to your house e.g. rubble, bathroom and kitchen fittings, plaster, tiles and paving slabs is considered to be Construction waste. And if you are transporting this waste by any other means than inside a car e.g. trailers, vans and pickups, then you must take it to a waste transfer station where a charge will be made. Small amounts of your own construction waste are still acceptable free of charge at the community recycling centres provided they are delivered in your car.

Surrey has four transfer stations, located at:

If you have paid for a service that produces waste i.e. a gardener to cut down some hedging, this must be taken to a waste transfer station regardless of the fact that it has come from a private household. This waste is considered to have arisen from commercial activity and a charge will be made for its disposal.
