Bring Sites / Recycling Bank Sites

  • Bring Sites or Recycling Bank Sites are set up and managed by the local district and borough councils.
  • They are for household recyclables only.
  • These sites provide separate banks/containers for the most common household recyclables such as paper and cans.
  • Recycling Banks are situated at locations that are visited by the public on a day to day basis.

Bring Sites sometimes also known as Recycling Bank Sites, are set up and managed by the local borough and district councils who are the Waste Collection Authorities in Surrey. These recycling sites are provided for the public to recycle materials arising in their homes.

At these sites there are skips for glass (clear and coloured bottles and jars), cans (steel and aluminium) and sometimes for aluminium foil. All these items ought to be rinsed before disposal to prevent foul smells and vermin infestation. There are also bring banks for textiles (including shoes), paper and card. Shredded paper is often not allowed in these skips because, as it cannot be reprocessed to a high quality product, it is rejected by most paper mills.

A number of the Bring Sites throughout the county now also include collection banks for plastic bottles. Some supermarkets have recently set up plastic carrier bag collection banks at their selected stores.

Recycling Banks are located at sites which are used on a day-to-day basis by the public e.g. public car parks and car parks at supermarkets, leisure centres, sports clubs, near schools, train stations, shopping centres etc. The exact location of your nearest recycling bank site and the type of materials that can be recycled there is found on the individual web site of your local borough or district council.
